Changes at Wax Works West

You may have noticed some substantial changes to our website. After many very rewarding years of teaching encaustic in our community, Judy and Wendy have made the decision to retire…well almost.

Wendy has become more involved in working with homeless and addicted men and women in Bend, Oregon, and Judy with her volunteer work in the arts community in Santa Cruz County, serving on both boards and advisory committees.

“We have both come to a place in our lives where serving our communities in a larger way is of great importance to us.”

However, requests have been pouring in for us to teach classes.  Judy will continue to teach semi-private and private classes, by appointment only.  We will continue to sell a more limited selection of supplies.  So place an order or send us a note, if we can be of assistance to you.

Going Deep with Cathy Valentine

Don’t miss “Going Deep” with Cathy Valentine”

March 22nd & 23rd, 2014

Cathy has been working with encaustic and teaching art for over 10 years. In this ‘in depth’ workshop students will learn the techniques that Cathy utilizes in her own practice including mark making using handmade tools and india ink, creating texture by the inlay and extraction of elements and the separation of encaustic layers while maintaining luminosity and depth. Cathy only teaches for a once a year, so don’t miss this opportunity to study with her!
